1942  "Purley Grange" an LBSC creation in 2.1/2 inch gauge. Built by a Mr E.Haswell who, I assume is the gentleman crouching beside the locomotive.

1945 An exhibition at Lewis's of Leeds in aid of the "Prisoner of War Fund".

1945 A Great Northern Railway Atlantic in 2.1/2 inch guge built by Mr Hainsworth.
In 1947 the society held its first post war exhibition in Leeds Corn exchange.  The Mayor of Leeds, Sir George Martin, is seen performing the opening ceremony driving 4-4-0 "Yorkshire".

1951 Festival of Britain Celebrations using the portable track at Knottingley.  The locomotive is "Blink Bonny" and the driver is David Booth.
1952 The portable track being set up at Ledson by Mr. Hainsworth & Mr. Mann.

At Ledston again (probably the same day as the previos picture).  Double heading locomotives are "Samson" & " Blink Bonny".

1956 - 1960 Early stages in building the track at Temple Newsam.  Trees are felled, support piers installed, beams fitted to the piers until it lees like a railway.

9th July 1960 The official opening.

This turntable was situated just outside the locomotive store.  Engines or riding cars could be moved from the store ( behind the camera), onto the steaming bay loop (end-on to the camera).

The tunnel.  Unfortunately the wooden shutter when fitted over the portal didn't deter the vandals as expected.
